Conservation Rebate Program

Reducing Electrical Demand Through Increased Efficiency, Our Guiding Principle

As a part of the PUD’s contract with the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), we are paid to provide financial incentives for our customers to improve their electrical efficiency. Mainly we provide rebates on documented expenses for approved home or commercial energy improvements. Improvements can range from LED lamps, to insulation, to industrial scale pumps. Improved efficiency offsets the need for new electrical generation or the purchase of additional electricity from other wholesalers. Both the BPA and the PUD have conservation targets which if not met can lead to increases in power rates. Its a complex and delicate balancing act, but in general, the net effect of becoming more electrically efficient is both economically and environmentally beneficial for everyone locally and across the region. Rebate Program Requirements and Expectations

Two principal conditions need to be met in order to qualify for a Jefferson PUD energy efficiency rebate: 1)You MUST be a Jefferson PUD electricity customer*. 2) For home heating-related upgrades such as insulation, heat pumps, windows and the like, the primary source of heat for your home must be electric. Note that other restrictions may apply depending on the measure.

Helpful Tips For Obtaining Your Rebate:
  • Retain copies of all of your submitted paperwork.
  • Use a participating installer.
  • Get multiple bids when possible.

For all rebates, please expect at least a 4 to 5 week processing time between when you submit your complete and accurate application documentation and when you receive your check in the mail. For customers that do not go with a company on the participating installers below, issues with required documentation are not uncommon, causing additional delays. Contractors should fill out the corresponding documentation for most HVAC rebates, including windows and insulation. Most HVAC customers receive instant utility rebates at the point of purchase (see participating installer list for contractors offering instant utility rebates). Homeowners also must sign off on most applications. The PUD may change its policy and go strictly with participating installers in the future. Rebate funds are not unlimited; fund availability and programs themselves are subject to change, in some cases without advanced notice.

*Contractors, the PUD is transitioning from sending rebates directly to the customer to rebating the contractor for HVAC jobs where they offer an instant rebate at the point of purchase.  If you are interested in participating in the program or serving a Jefferson County PUD customer and you are not on our list, please call Bill Graham at (360) 385-8375. This page will be changed when substantive program modifications are made (last update 6/14/2018).
