Winter Storm Preparation

The PUD is prepping for the potential winter storm. If power outages occur our crews are ready to respond.

However, if you or someone you know does not have an adequate (and safe!) backup source of heat for this weekend, consider contacting neighbors, friends, or relatives who do have backup heat before the storm begins. Maybe plan a an impromptu pajama party. Once the storm hits it will be unsafe to drive. Be proactive if you can. Make sure flashlights have batteries and your cellphones are charged.

Additionally, OlyCAP is providing a 24/7 warming shelter in the basement of the American Legion Hall in Port Townsend. It is open to all who need it.
In Port Hadlock, the Jefferson County Jail will open its lobby as an overnight warming shelter from 8pm to 8am.

If power lines come down, do not touch or attempt to move them, even if they are blocking your driveway. Assume all power lines are live and can kill if touched.  Call 911 immediately. Also, do not try to move trees or branches in contact with power lines. Call us at 360 385 – 5800.

Be Safe. Stay Warm. Call 360-385-5800 if you need to report an outage or contact us during the storm. We will be updating our FB and Twitter feeds regularly throughout to keep you informed.
