Cape George Tree Trimming Starts Apr 15

Since trees are a major cause of power outages in Jefferson County, one of our 2019 projects is to trim the area of Cape George Colony.  Our contract tree-pruning crews will be working in the Upper Cape George Colony beginning April 15, 2019. The Upper Cape George Colony is in need of trimming around PUD power lines and will take an estimated one week to complete. The contract tree trimming crew will then move to other areas of Cape George Colony and trim small areas. Work in the lower Cape George Colony will take an estimated three days. These certified tree crews specialize in tree work around energized electric power lines and therefore safety of the crew and public is a primary concern. Please do not approach the working area or attempt to communicate with the crew.

If you are interested in receiving wood chips, or to keep the wood that is cut down from this project, please identify where you would like the chips and/or wood by placing a sign at the location.  We will not transport chips and/or wood to another location. Otherwise, crews will chip the smaller sections and remove them.

Although no response is necessary, if you have any question or concerns or wish to discuss removal of trees adjacent to our power lines please call the PUD Special Project Coordinator (360) 385-8363. Please note these cres do not trim around the secondary electric lies that run from the utility pole to your home, (twisted line going to your house meter).

Thank you for helping us to maintain public safety and provide the reliable service you can depend on.
