Barged-in Housing Move Will Require Outages Thursday

The City of Port Townsend is scheduled to move a multifamily residential building in Port Townsend on Thursday, May 11. The building will arrive from Victoria via barge around 4PM Wednesday with the move on land starting at around 9AM Thursday off Washington Street and finishing around 3PM just off of the corner of Cherry and Van Ness.

The circuitous route – required to avoid as much electric and communications lines as possible – will start near the Pourhouse on Washington Street, move along Decatur, take a left onto Sims Way, a right onto 12th St, a right on Landes St , a right onto 19th to Blaine St. then a left on Walker St then to a long driveway and its intended destination.  Please click here to see the map of the route.

The PUD will need to drop neutral lines at various locations along the route resulting in temporary outages. Outage durations should be no longer than four hours with the first outage starting at 7AM on Thursday. For a map of the outage areas, click here.

Staging, times and durations of the outages will depend on the situation on the ground. For more information about the outages, you can call us at (360) 385-5800 on Thursday. We will be providing updates on the website and on Twitter as events unfold.
