Fiber Sign Up Now Open

In the last 9 months the PUD has received over $25 Million in state and federal grants and loans to build fiber internet to homes and businesses in eligible project areas within our electric service territory. We are now accepting signups for fiber in those areas.

How do you know if you live in a funded project area? Check the fiber project map! Simply enter your address into the search field (upper-right of project map), and the map will zoom-in to the provided location. Color zones and additional information on funding areas is located within the map legend.

Sign ups are open for homes and business in parts of Quilcene, Discovery Bay, Gardiner, rural Cape George, Woodland Hills, Marrowstone Island. In Port Townsend (Red Zone on map) we are only accepting business sign-ups and a UBI number is required.

Fiber construction to the home and business will begin in 2023 and continue through 2024.

What Do You Get?

The PUD will install fiber optic cable to eligible residents and businesses in our rural project areas at no cost to the customer. Installation will generally follow the power routes, either underground or overhead. The PUD will also provide and install the fiber equivalent of a modem.

After installation, internet service from the PUD begins at $65 mo. and will require a service application at a later date to activate. Service from the PUD comes with a gigabit wifi router. Because the network is open access, other service providers may also provide a monthly service option.

What are the Rules?

Fiber installation is provided at no cost to ONLY the 1st 60%-70% of homes and businesses in our eligible rural project areas to register. Additional rules apply, see the details on the sign up page.

In the Port Townsend Business District area, fiber installation is only available to businesses and requires a $1,200 cost share.
