PUD Commissioners Approve Electric Rate Increases

Jefferson County PUD Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution adopting a new electric rate schedule that includes a 4 year slate of electric rate increases at their June 1st 2021 regular meeting. Beginning in July, residential electric rates will increase a total of 4.18%, with base charges increasing from $18.50 to $21 per month and consumption charges adding a third tier of $0.1218 per kWh for all usage above 1600 kWh per month. Most other rate classes will see 3.75% increases in 2021, except for Irrigation which is receiving a 6% increase to better capture the cost of providing the service, and Interruptible Primary Schools, which will receive no rate increases over the next 4 years.. All electric rate increases are intended to help the PUD maintain required debt service ratios and to fund ongoing capital improvements to the PUD’s electric infrastructure.
