PUD Flow Tests 75 Hydrants May 14-18th.

Jefferson County PUD water crews will conduct hydrant flow testing on Marrowstone Island and neighborhoods east of the Jefferson County Airport Monday May 14th through Friday May 18th. PUD customers may experience lower water pressures or pressure fluctuations during this time.

A total of 75 hydrants will be tested on Marrowstone Island, including those in Fort Flagler, as well as hydrants serving homes or businesses off of both Woodland Drive and Prospect Avenue. Kala Point hydrants received testing in January and will not be affected by this round.

According to PUD Water Crew Lead Eric Storey, water flow data and exact locations on a total of 75 hydrants will be collected and entered into the PUD’s GIS mapping system. The amount of water flow available to each hydrant is used by the fire department to determine how many homes the hydrant can service in case of fire. Storey added that the PUD will paint the tested hydrants with corresponding colors indicating fire flow rates later this summer.

Storey invited any customers who experience discolored water coming from their taps during testing to report it to PUD customer service at (360) 385-5800.
