Jefferson County PUD was organized in 1940. In 2013, the PUD purchased electric service from the private utility serving eastern Jefferson County. The PUD now serves nearly 19,000 electric, 5,000 water and 400 sewer customers. Growing from 8 employees prior to the purchase of electric to 50 employees, the PUD continues to fine tune the organizational structure.
